Promoting Quality of Life, Health, and Wellbeing

It has been said that ‘to specialise is to know more and more about less and less’ – in contrast, our specialists aim to remain a ‘multi-organ’ expert rather than focus on a single area of study. We each share our own unique sub-specialty interests such as Metabolic health, Perioperative Medicine and Infectious diseases, whilst retaining a general approach to a patient’s care.

Our Services

Comprehensive Medical Assessment

Comprehensive medical Assessment extends beyond the ‘traditional’ medical consultation. It involves a multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment approach encompassing all aspects of a person’s health.

Advice & Guidance inpatient review

We can guide you in navigating complex medical decision-making whilst you are admitted in hospital. All we require is a summary letter of your progress in-hospital, recent pathology and imaging. If requested, we would be happy to speak with your treating clinician(s) to help you make informed decisions regarding your care

Telemedicine

Internal Medicine Australia (IMA) can support those living in rural/regional areas or with limited access to transport by remote specialist video consultations. This includes your first and subsequent consultations.

Rapid access services

As our doctors all have appointments at local hospitals, we are ideally placed also for ‘Rapid Review’ clinics – providing immediate post discharge follow-up for patients who have recently been sent home from hospital.

Perioperative medicine

Perioperative medicine refers to the specialised medical care provided to patients before, during, and after surgery. It focuses on optimising health and managing medical conditions to ensure safe and successful surgical outcomes.

About us

Internal medicine physicians, often referred to as internists, specialise in the comprehensive care and management of adult patients across a wide spectrum of medical conditions. They are trained to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses that affect adults, focusing on complex medical problems and chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and respiratory disorders. Internal medicine physicians utilise a combination of clinical expertise, diagnostic skills, and evidence-based medicine to provide personalised care, as consultants to other specialists when more specialised care is needed. They emphasise preventive care, health promotion, and the holistic management of patients, integrating medical knowledge with compassionate communication to address the physical, emotional, and social aspects of health and illness.
